This week in #Fukushima news, protests and controversy dominated the news wires as the continuing nuclear nightmare in Japan persists. Here are the highlights, step-by-step:
Step 1: Educate and Safeguard
Fewer than 300 fuel assemblies remain in the heavily damaged reactor #4 spent fuel pool. This is the best news coming out of #Fukushima Daiichi in a long time. See SimplyInfo for more.
Step 2: Evacuate Fukushima NOW
While the moms and kids of Fukushima are still languishing in the highly affected areas of Japan due to radiation, Prime Minister Abe was in New York in front of the U.N. pushing for everything BUT the welfare of the people.
Step 3: Control & Contain
#TEPCO’s ice wall is such a failure, they’re switching from ice to concrete as a way to plug the leaks at the site. Good luck with that!
Step 4: Nuclear Power is OVER
16,000 people packed the streets of Tokyo this week to protest the restarts of nuclear reactors in their country.
All this and much more will be talked about on the #FukuFriday Happy Hour Hangout, sponsored by Operation SAVE the Earth and Google+, this and every Friday night! Check out the past episodes at the YouTube Channel!
